President Rinkēvičs visiting Malta

Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs is currently enjoying some winter sunshine as from February 4 to 7 he is on a state visit to Malta.

"The purpose of the visit is to meet with the President of the Republic of Malta Dr George Vella, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Malta Mr Robert Abela, and other senior Maltese officials," said a release from the presidential chancellery.

The President of Latvia is also scheduled to hold talks with Maltese entrepreneurs and potential investors in Latvia, participate in the opening of the business seminar 'Malta and Latvia: digital tools for languages of small countries', as well as meet with Latvians living in Malta and give several interviews to local media.

Additionally, the President will visit the interesting island of Gozo, famous for its appearances in numerous film and television productions, where he will meet the Minister for Gozo, Mr Clint Camilleri.

It would be remiss of us not to point out that there is also a 'Malta' in the Rēzekne district of eastern Latvia – though it is currently around 20 degrees Celsius colder than the one in the Mediterranean.
