"This is the day when we honour our soldiers, our National Armed Forces. Lāčplēsis Day, the historic day when the Latvian army defeated its enemy, the Bermondtians, was established on 11 November 1919. This is the day when we commemorate the lives of soldiers who died defending Latvia, especially during the War of Independence. It is also the day when we pay tribute to everyone who has died while on international mission joined by free Latvia," President of Latvia was quoted.
"We, the Latvian people, trust in our armed forces. Our border force and military are under immense pressure coming from the border, and we have full confidence in our troops. Let us all pay our respect to Latvian soldiers. Without them, there would be no Latvia," Levits stressed.
