Economics Minister Arvils Ašeradens became the second government minister in two days to survive a Saeima no-confidence vote June 21.

34 MPs voted for his resignation, while 48 were against. Two MPs abstained in the vote.

During the preceding debate, Ašeradens came under heavy criticism for his handling of a controversy surrounding electricity prices and green energy subsidies in which widespread fraud is suspected.

Ašeradens is also leader of the Vienotība political party.

As reported by LSM, on June 20 Justice Minister Dzintars Rasnačs also survived a no-confidence motion over his handling of insolvency administrators.

Last month Health Minister Anda Čakša did likewise.
