Third official dismissed over military rations case

During the course of investigation of the procurement of army food, the Ministry of Defence (AM) has decided not to extend the professional service contract with one representative of the National Armed Forces (NBS), LETA told the Ministry.

Five disciplinary proceedings are currently under investigation. One of the total six disciplinary proceedings has been terminated.

The head of the procurement commission, former member of the National Alliance Ēriks Ezeriņš has already been dismissed as well as Imants Freibergs, chief of the Procurement and Contract Division of the NBS Security Command Headquarters of the Supply Management.

Two other officials have been reprimanded.

In the meantime, the government has decided to set up an interdisciplinary service inspection commission to ensure a comprehensive assessment of the responsibility of officials involved in the procurement, according to State Audit Office.
