The Competition Council, on the basis of the information provided by the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) and the additional evidence obtained during the investigation, identified a violation of the law in the activities of road construction companies.
Section 11, Paragraph one of the Competition Law prohibits such agreements, the purpose or effect of which is to obstruct, restrict, or deform competition in the territory of Latvia.
Total fines of more than €4.4 million were imposed.
The number of companies involved in the cartel case is not disclosed by the authority for the time being, promising to provide more information on Wednesday, June 14.
