Another accused in 'Baltic antifascists' case

On October 16 this year, the State Security Service (VDD) encouraged the prosecutor's office to prosecute another person who allegedly spied for Russia while carrying out certain tasks of the criminal organization Baltic antifascists, the VDD said Friday.

During the investigation, it was determined that the person had provided information to the leaders of the criminal organization Baltic antifascists regarding the movement, location, and combat capabilities of NATO military equipment in the territory of Latvia, knowing that this information was planned to be given to Russian special services.

Also, on behalf of the contact person of the criminal organization “Baltic antifascists”, the person had collected and compiled information regarding planned procurements in Latvia, which are related to the military field and strengthening of Latvia's national defense capabilities.

Criminal proceedings against this person have been separated from the so-called “Baltic antifascist” criminal proceedings, referring to Section 85 of the Criminal Law, namely espionage. The person in question was detained by the VDD on March 29 this year.
