'Healers' get fines over glorification of Russia's war

Representatives of the “DVS Urantija” organization which describes itself as a healing center have been fined thousands for justification and glorification of the war launched by Russia in Ukraine, as well as national and ethnic hatred, the prosecutor's office said May 22.

Several persons involved have been found guilty of justifying genocide, crimes against humanity, and crimes against peace and war crimes, and of causing national, ethnic, and racial hatred within a group of persons.

The self-styled “healer” Ventis Vasiļevskis has been penalized EUR 6,820, and his son, blogger Aivis Vasiļevskis, has been slapped with a penalty of EUR 11,160.

Meanwhile, the head of “DVS Urantija”, Skaidrīte Aleksejeva, has been ordered to do 216 hours of community service.

Aivis Vasiļevskis also spent three months in custody prior to trial.

Criminal proceedings against representatives of the DVS Urantija organization were initiated on March 1, 2022, by the VDD on the alleged justification and glorification of crimes against peace and war crimes, as well as the possible inducement of national and ethnic hatred or intolerance by the personnel responsible for the organization through an automated data processing system. The State Security Service transferred the case to the prosecutor in April this year.
