Man throws training grenade in Rīga pub

In Rīga, an unknown man has thrown a training grenade into a bar where journalists from the Russian editorial service of the British broadcaster BBC had gathered, reports the website of the newspaper Novaya Gazeta Europe, citing an eyewitness.

Two BBC employees also confirmed the information to broadcaster Deutsche Welle.

The incident happened December 23 at around 11 PM in the Rīga bar "Čē". Almost no visitors were left there except the journalists. At that point, the door opened and a man threw a training grenade RDG-5 at the feet of journalists, an eyewitness claimed. It exploded, stunning several people, reports Novaya Gazeta.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attacker fled in a black BMW car. Journalists who ran out after him recorded the registration plate.

The journalists involved believe the attack relates to their professional activities.

According to initial information, there are no victims.
