Take note – story published 1 year ago

The Latvian MInistry of Defense said on Facebook on September 7 that fraudsters are sending text messages in the name of the Latvian army regarding recruitment to the mandatory defense service.

Texts have been sent from the sender 'Armija' with the following content:

Labdien. Velamies Jus informet, ka esat izvelets obligatajam dienestam Latvijas armija. Jusu dienests saksies 2023. gada 1. februari, un notiks 12 men.

[Good afternoon. We wish to inform you that you have been chosen for mandatory service in the Latvian army. Your service begins on February 1, 2023, and will take place for 12 months.]

The Ministry of Defense said that no such messages are sent by the authorities. However, on Wednesday, September 7, and Thursday, September 8, residents are being sent texts of action in emergency situations. It takes place during military exercises to test the notification system.
