Take note – story published 1 year ago

The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) on Tuesday conducted criminal proceedings at a number of objects, including the State Revenue Service (VID), and detained several individuals, KNAB told LETA on August 24.

On June 2, the KNAB started criminal proceedings suspecting possible bribery in a large group of persons following a previous agreement.

Three persons have been detained during criminal proceedings and two others have the right to defense. The Court has decided on the arrest of two persons. The KNAB did not comment on whether there were state officials among these five individuals. According to LETA, the Criminal Law section referred to by the Bureau generally applies to officials as receivers of bribes.

KNAB is currently conducting active investigation process, gathering and strengthening evidence, so more information on criminal proceedings could not be disclosed.
