During the two days, the most frequent violations recorded by the law enforcement officers were flying at a height of more than 120 meters, not marking the drone, operating the drone outside the pilot's line of sight, as well as flying without the mandatory civil insurance, Rīga Municpal Police said.
"We remind you that the Rīga Municipal Police controls the flights of unmanned aircraft with the help of a special device that determines the location, height and speed of the drone. The purpose of the equipment is to manage airspace so that third parties are not harmed during flights with unmanned aircraft due to a pilot or technical failure," RPP said.
The maximum permitted flight height for drones in the open category is 120 meters, measured from the ground or water surface, not the take-off point. In some special areas, the maximum permitted take-off height is up to 50 meters, and as previously reported there are also restrictions against the use of drones close to items of special military or civil infrastructure importance.
