As reported earlier by LSM, the candidate claimed that she worked at the woodworking company SIA "Dolo" as an advisor in her official filing to the CVK. However, according to the company itself, Grevcova was only employed in a junior capacity at the company several years ago for little more than a year, and certainly not as an advisor. During the pre-trial investigation it was established that the person had submitted inaccurate information abouot themselves to the CVK, including information in the section “Workplace and Jobs”, as well as “Education”, and signed it as true.
Grevcova had provided information about studying at the Latvian Sports Pedagogy Academy, where she had not studied, either. She holds a diploma of secondary education obtained at the Balvi municipality Rekava High School. In front of the court, however, Grevcova denied that she lied in the questionnaire.
“I don't admit my guilt! I did not deliberately provide false news!” Grevcova said.
She told the court that in July 2022, when preparing documents for submission to the CVK, she had submitted an electronic questionnaire with her data to the party. The politician said she had not entered the mentioned data. It was true that she had recorded Dolo as a workplace, but it had been a "misunderstanding".
Before submitting the documents to the CVK, the party's Vidzeme List leader, Amils Saļimovs, had given her a printed questionnaire for signature. She had signed it without noticing that the data had changed.
“Gave [me] a stack of papers. Asked 'all right'? All right! I looked – “Dolo”, Rekava Secondary School. I didn't have any reason to look for anything else. I knew all the other pages were completely empty for me,” the defendant said.
Saļimovs will be invited to the next hearing.
Grevcova, after the hearing, told the media that she had provided real data about herself but had not checked everything properly.
“[..] I argued that I submitted truthful data about myself. But I must admit, my mistake, that I didn't read everything completely, that I wasn't legally educated enough to check everything. But there was no reason to believe that there might be something different,” the politician said.
She also added that she had no reason not to trust in the fairness of the court: “For now, I want to believe that there is a fair trial in Latvia. No, I'm not afraid of losing.”
After the meeting on Tuesday, January 17, a break was announced in the case. The next hearing is scheduled for February 14.
