According to information available to LTV, the warrior died in a drone strike near Liman in eastern Ukraine.
The report of the victim from Latvia was confirmed by the former Commander of the National Armed Forces Juris Dalbiņš. He said on LTV's “Today's Question” broadcast Tuesday that he had received a voice message about the fallen Latvian warrior in Ukraine a few hours earlier.
“His comrades will make sure that he is brought to Latvia and buried in accordance with military regulations,” Dalbins said.
Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs press secretary Diāna Eglīte acknowledged that information about this fact was received from the embassy in Ukraine, but official confirmation from Ukrainian authorities is pending.
