It has already been reported that from 2023 to 2027 Latvia will invest an additional 200 million euros annually, a total of one billion euros in five years, in the strengthening of air defense capabilities, thus increasing the country's defense capabilities, maintaining the Euro-Atlantic course of foreign policy and strengthening Latvia's security in the changing geopolitical situation.
On November 30 this year, the Ministry of Defense signed a supply contract with German company Diehl Defence for the purchase of an IRIS-T mid-range air defense system.
Diehl Defence is scheduled to begin delivery of medium-range air defense systems in 2026.
