On Monday, October 9, in an abandoned residential building in Rīga, Jaunciems district, border guards detained a group of immigrants who entered Latvia illegally, the State Border Guard said.

Border guards detained a Latvian citizen in Rīga on Monday for providing support and transporting several Eritrean citizens.

A total of 13 persons without identity documents and valid visas or residence permits were detained.

At the time of the arrest, one of the individuals showed resistance and repeatedly attacked the border guard by spraying pepper gas into the border guard's face.

Among the belongings of the detained persons, border guards also detected several foreign documents with obvious signs of counterfeiting, as well as an object similar to a pneumatic weapon.
