Four all-terrain vehicles on the way from Latvia to Ukraine

Take note – story published 1 year ago

A unique donation has started its way from Latvia to Ukraine – four two-part all-terrain vehicles “Bangvagn”. It is unique to the society “SOS aid to the Ukrainian Army” as this aid trumps what has been sent to Ukraine so far with donor support, Latvian Television reported on November 10.

The association stresses that it is such vehicles that are very useful for Ukrainians, therefore they are requested.

With all-terrain vehicles “Bangvagn”, soldiers can move the injured, take shelter in them, nor are waterbodies a barrier to them.

The donated machinery is not new, it has previously been used by farmers and hunters in the Nordic countries and now have been renovated and adapted to military needs

"Designed to travel on deep snow and marshes, in extremely challenging road conditions. Ukraine now has the so-called “rasputnica” - until the land freezes, there will be very difficult field and road conditions. So they [ATVs] will be immediately [put] into action,” said Emils Paupe-Balodis, spokesman for the association “SOS assistance to the Ukrainian Army.”

For the donation worth €76,000, the society thanks the American Latvian Mārtiņš Putenis.

In future, it is planned to donate generators, night vision equipment, and medical products.
