The boat, named P-01 'Zibens' ('Lightning') was formerly used to train naval cadets but is now in poor condition.
In 2019 a plan was drawn up by the Ministry of Defense to turn it into a floating museum and tourist attraction, but the costs proved prohibitive and the plan was torpedoed.
Auctioning off the vessel was approved by the government May 28. All the costs of repairing and transporting the boat will be borne by the buyer - if one can be found.
