Ammo storage facility built in Vaiņode

The military have unveiled an ammo storage facility worth close to €7m in Vaiņode, western Latvia. It will supply both local and national units, reported Latvian Radio on December 27.

The National Armed Forces said that the complex was built away from the nearby Vaiņode town due to safety reasons. 

While Defense Minister Raimonds Bergmanis told LETA that the new facility is meant for storing all kinds of ammunition, including anti-tank and artillery ammunition. If necessary, storing allied forces’ ammunition at the Vainode facility can also be considered.

The facility was built in less than six months.
