Border Watch: Sub and tug together again

Take note – story published 7 years ago

Latvia's National Armed Forces (NBS) spotted more Russian military activity in the Baltic Sea October 2.

Filing one of its regular updates via its Twitter feed, NBS said it had identified a Russian 'Kilo' class submarine and the now-familiar tugboat 'Viktor Konetsky' within Latvia's exclusive economic zone, 15 nautical miles (28 kilometers) from Latvia's sea border.

Tugboats typically act as support ships for submarines.

NBS has a policy of identifying all unidentified Russian military vehicles at sea and in the air and informing the public of their presence.
