Donation campaign to send Latvia-made military goods to Ukraine

An informative campaign has been launched asking for money to be donated so that military goods produced in Latvia can be purchased and sent to Ukraine, said Rūta Dimanta, head of the charity platform Ziedot.lv, in an interview on Latvian Television November 15.

For donations, it is planned to purchase the necessary items for Ukrainian defenders manufactured in Latvia – combat support platforms, military quadricycles, unmanned aircraft, camouflage vests, bullets, army tactical food, generators, military scooters, military jeeps, unexploded munitions destruction devices, and other items.

On Tuesday, November 15, next to the House of Congress and opposite the Russian Embassy, the Latvian-made equipment will be displayed, for the purchase and delivery of which Ukrainian donations are collected.

“I think you and the viewers wake up every morning with the fact that we expect good news. We want to see Ukraine win, the war is over and we could live a peaceful life. For such news to come true, we still need to help the Ukrainians,” Dimanta said.

She added that although citizens and businesses are donating to support Ukraine, donations to our Latvians have not dwindled. In September and October, more was donated to the people of Latvia than to Ukraine.

“It's normal because we have to look after ourselves as well. But I would say it is not a competition, there is actually no competition in charity,” added Dimanta.

You can donate to the cause here and to other good causes on the Ziedot.lv website.
