Over 2,000 migrants turned back on Latvia-Belarus border in total

Between August 10, the announcement of the state of emergency on the Latvia-Belarus border, and October 31, the Border Guard has prevented 2,003 persons from crossing the border.

On Saturday, October 30, another 13 people's attempts of illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian State border were prevented. Six people were detained for having crossed the border illegally.

407 persons have been detained for illegally crossing the border this year, 295 of whom came in the timeframe from August 6 to 10, and 55 of whom came after the announcement of the state of emergency. They were not prevented from crossing the border, citing humanitarian reasons.

The state of emergency in the border area is set to last until February 10.
