The event will start at 08:50 with flowers at the Oskars Kalpaks monument and a service in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Saldus, followed at 11:00 by a parade of Latvian and foreign armed forces, the State Border Guard, the State Fire and Rescue Service, the State Police and others, complete with equipment.
President Egils Levits will be in attendance and, provided the weather is suitable, there will also be overflights.
After the parade, until 15:00 in Saldus center, there will be an opportunity to see an exhibition of military equipment, weapons and equipment, as well as various demonstrations - parachute landings, demonstrations of the State Border Guard dog unit and music from the NAF Naval Orchestra.
Since 2012 the tradition has been in place whereby National Armed Forces Day is celebrated with a parade in one of Latvia's regional towns, to complement the traditional independence day parade on November 18 in Rīga.
