Spain plans Ukrainian military tank training in Latvia

Take note – story published 1 year ago

Spain is prepared to supply air missiles and Leopard tanks to Ukraine, as well as train Ukrainian soldiers in Latvia, the major newspaper El Pais reported June 5, according to newswire LETA.

Spain, which has so far helped Ukraine with ammunition, personal protective equipment and light armaments, is prepared for a “quality leap” in terms of future aid, namely the supply of heavy armaments.

Training to use the heavy equipment would initially take place in Latvia, where Spain has a contingent of 500 troops and six Leopard 2E tanks in the NATO extended presence battle group, but would then continue in Spain.

The delivery deadlines and training dates are not yet known as the tanks need repairs and upgrades.
