Until August 8, the annual unexploded ordnance disposal exercise “EODEX 2021” is taking place in Liepāja.

Teams of Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian, German, Ukrainian and United States Navy divers and unmanned underwater robots are participating in the training.

"The aim of the training is to improve the skills of personnel of unexploded ordnance disposal units to perform the destruction of unexploded ordnance and improvised explosive devices in the marine environment," said a release from the Latvian Ministry of Defense.

The first such training was organized in 2014, and one of the three Baltic States provides rotational training each year.
