National Botanical Garden spokeswoman Ludmila Višņēvska said: “Botania is a plant kingdom. Here we can learn about plants. Both about what plants give us humans and what we humans can give plants, how to help them in the challenging conditions when human influence on the plant world has grown.”
“We're talking about not just native plants, but plants all over the world. There are very significant plants that we all use, even though they come from distant lands. We tried to make the exposures so that a person could learn something with all their senses. For example, on the ground floor, where we have roots and a trunk, walk to the smells of wood, walk to musical instruments, walk to fabrics painted with roots,” Višņevska noted.
Visitor Anda said: “Everything was really new to us. The eldest son loved it a lot. It was valuable.”
Visitor Inguna added: “Yes, I liked the bog plants, insect-eating plants.” She said it was interesting for adults here too and that it takes time to get to know everything.
Overall, the center includes more than a hundred different themes about plant life.
