Latvia's plumpest pumpkin revealed

Take note – story published 1 year ago

The quest for Latvia's fattest pumpkin of the year has come to fruition: a 351-kilogram specimen grown by Luīza Neimane from Kuldīga municipality was crowned at Maxima Latvia's specially organized squash championship.

Gatis Badovskis took the second place with a mighty berry weighing 260 kilograms, whereas Linda Kuzmicka's pumpkin ranked third at 254.5 kilos.

The 18 participating plump-kins were weighed at Rīga Zoo.

"The passion and concern of pumpkin growers will also be appreciated by residents of the Riga Zoo, who will enjoy the great pumpkins for lunch and dinner," said Laura Bagātā, head of corporate communications for Maxima Latvija.
