Of the 9,826 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 12.7% were positive. The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population rose from 540 Wednesday to 557 Thursday.
Sadly, 8 more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. All of the fatalities were aged 50 years or over and 4 of them were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 4,561.
Wednesday data from the National Health Service show 479 patients being treated in hospital with 81 displaying serious symptoms.
In the other Baltic states, Estonia reported 1,379 new cases and 6 deaths while in Lithuania there were nearly 1,700 cases and 14 deaths.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.
Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme. All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website covidpass.lv.
