14 Covid deaths in Latvia Friday

On March 11, 2022, Latvia recorded 6,216 new cases of Covid-19, according to the latest figures from the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

Of the newly-confirmed cases, 2,128 cases were recorded in unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated people, while 4,088 were fully vaccinated.

Out of 15,574 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 39.9% were positive. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 of the population declined from 5,433 Thursday to 5,235 Friday. Since the beginning of the pandemic 733,084 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.

Sadly, 14 Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. All victims were aged 60 years or older. Four of the dead were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 5,396.

Friday hospital data from the National Health Service show 1,082 patients being treated in hospitals (down on Tursday's 1,090). 151 patients were admitted and 129 were discharged during the previous 24 hours. 42 patients are displaying serious symptoms.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.
