1,451 new Covid cases Tuesday in Latvia

Another 1,451 cases of Covid-19 infection were added to Latvia's tally November 9, according to the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

Of that 1,451 total, 941 were unvaccinated persons, or persons not fully vaccinated, and 510 were fully vaccinated. The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 233,698.

Of the 16,447 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 8.8% were positive.

The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population dropped again from 1,520.5 Monday to 1,485.4 Tuesday, further raising hopes that the current infection wave may be past its peak, even while the level remains among the world's highest.

Unfortunately 46 more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. All were aged 40 years or over. Only 4 of the fatalities were fully vaccinated individuals.

The death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 3,561.

Monday data show a record-high 1,605 patients being treated in hospital with 236 patients displaying serious symptoms.

Meanwhile in Estonia there were more than 1,000 new cases and six deaths in the last 24 hours and in Lithuania there were more than 2,300 cases and 27 deaths.
