16 Covid deaths Friday in Latvia

On April 1, 2022, Latvia recorded 1,792 new cases of Covid-19 infection, according to the latest figures from the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

Of the newly-confirmed cases, 538 cases were recorded in unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated people, while 1,254 were fully vaccinated.

Out of 6,966 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 25.7% were positive. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 of the population declined further from 1,997 Thursday to 1,869 Friday, its lowest level since mid-January. 

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 800,607 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.

Unfortunately, 16 more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. All fatalities were aged over 50 years. The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 5,617.

Thursday hospital data from the National Health Service show 880 patients being treated in hospitals (down on 904 the previous day). 98 patients were admitted and 103 were discharged during the previous 24 hours. 28 patients are displaying serious symptoms.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.

Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme
