On March 14, 2022, Latvia recorded 2,097 new cases of Covid-19, according to the latest figures from the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC). Monday's total is usually the lowest of the week due to a reduced number of tests conducted on Sundays.

Of the newly-confirmed cases, 633 cases were recorded in unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated people, while 1,464 were fully vaccinated.

Out of 4,872 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 43% were positive. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 of the population declined from 4,903 Sunday to 4,823 Monday. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 744,433 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.

Eight Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. All of the victims were aged over 70 years. Three were unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 5,429.

Monday hospital data from the National Health Service show 1,127 patients being treated in hospitals (up on 1,048 Sunday). 116 patients were admitted and 21 were discharged during the previous 24 hours. 41 patients are displaying serious symptoms.
