Of 9,284 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 10.3% were positive. The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population rose from 527.6 Wednesday to 536.1 Thursday.
Sadly, 12 more Covid-related deaths were confirmed. All of the fatalities were aged 60 years or over and three of the dead were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 4,489.
Thursday data show 505 patients being treated in hospital with 80 displaying serious symptoms.

December 22 saw 1,430 people getting a first vaccine shot, 1,719 getting a second shot and 7,005 getting a third booster shot. So far just over 1.3 million people of Latvia's 1.9 million population have received at least one Covid vaccine.
Meanwhile Estonia reported 867 new cases and 4 deaths, and Lithuania reported 1,722 cases and 20 deaths.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.
Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme. All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website covidpass.lv.
