COVID-19 vaccine road to Latvia outlined by Health Ministry

The Health Ministry on December 21 published an informative graphic showing how COVID-19 vaccines will travel to Latvia.

On December 21, the European Medicines Agency recommended for approval the new vaccines by Pfizer and BioNTech. On Tuesday, December 22, European Commission is scheduled to approve the vaccine.

According to the Health Ministry, once the EC has approved the vaccine, the first load should be delivered to Latvia December 26. The wholesaler will then distribute it to 10 hospitals where on December 28, paramedics and healthcare workers who treat COVID-19 patients at hospitals should begin to receive the first vaccinations.

The dates are still subject to change.
