Of 13,969 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 16.0% were positive. The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population jumped from 895.2 Monday to 951.0 Tuesday. The last time the morbidity was above 900 was on November 18, 2021.
Sadly, seven more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. The youngest of the victims was aged 50-59 years and two were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 4,668.
Tuesday data from the National Health Service show 585 patients being treated in hospital with 57 patients admitted and 57 discharged during the last 24 hours. 87 patients are displaying serious symptoms.

In the other Baltic states, Estonia had 251 hospitalized patients, 1,981 new cases and 3 deaths confirmed during the last 24 hours while in Lithuania there were 2,680 cases and 9 deaths confirmed during the last 24 hours.

Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme. All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website covidpass.lv.
