Covid incidence rise in Latvia after two months of decline

Following a two-month gradual reduction in Covid-19 cases, between November 21 and November 27, Covid-19 cases increased by 35.1%, with an average of 446 cases per day, according to November 28 information from the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

The number of tests also increased by 17.7%.

The total number of Covid-19 patients increased by 4.6%.

The increase in the number of newly identified cases in the previous week was in age groups 0-9 years and 30-49 years. Higher morbidity than in Latvia on average was observed in Kurzeme, Latgale, and Rīga.

The EU is experiencing a slow upward trend in morbidity. In Latvia, the incidence of Covid-19 is below the EU average.

Since the influenza monitoring launched this season, 13 cases of influenza have been laboratory -confirmed in Latvia and 52 clinically confirmed cases of influenza have been reported by family doctors. Regional and widespread influenza has already been identified in some countries of the European Union/European Economic Area.
