Those who have got a booster vaccine or completed primary vaccination against Covid-19 in the last six months have had the virus 3.4 times less frequently than unvaccinated, and mortality among these people is 14 times lower than among unvaccinated, according to information from the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC) on November 14.

Last week, November 7 to 13, 2550 new cases of Covid-19 were registered in Latvia. Thus, the number of newly identified cases of Covid-19 decreased by 16.8% compared to the previous week.

The number of Covid-19 cases has decreased in all regions of Latvia. Similarly, the decline in disease continues in almost all age groups, while a slight increase is observed in the age group above 80.

The number of patients in hospitals decreased by 9%.

Of the newly identified cases of Covid-19, 38% were re-infected. The SPKC recalls that Covid-19 recovery does not guarantee long-term immunity.

Comparing the intensity of the spread of infection in 100 000 inhabitants in the newly vaccinated population (in the last 6 months a booster vaccination has been carried out or primary vaccination has been completed), a primary vaccination completed (longer than 6 months) and among unvaccinated people between July and October, the Covid-19 infection has been reported to be 3.4 times less in the newly vaccinated people in Latvia than the unvaccinated.

From July to September, those recently vaccinated were hospitalized 9.9 times less than those unvaccinated.

On the other hand, fatal Covid-19 outcomes were 14.1 times less frequently reported in recently vaccinated patients than in unvaccinated ones.
