Last week a 36% decrease in the number of new infections with Covid-19 was observed against the previous week, according to data published July 12 by the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

An average of 38 cases were reported daily, while the week before this was 60 cases a day. Last week, on average, 6,971 tests were carried out a day. A week earlier, 8,179 tests were carried out a day.

Over the past seven days, on average, seven infected people arrived in hospitals daily while a week earlier the figure was eight.  In all age groups, there is a continued reduction in morbidity, while a more pronounced trend is observed in the age group 10 to 19 years.

The Covid-19 infection reproduction factor (R) is currently at 0.77 (a week earlier at 1.06), demonstrating a drop in morbidity.

Last week, a total of 38 Covid-19 cases were imported from other countries.

"In spite of the decline in morbidity, we call on citizens to get vaccinated against Covid-19. Vaccination is the safest and most effective way of protecting against severe forms of disease and reducing the spread of Covid-19 infection in the community,” stressed the SPKC.
