This weekend, seven cities in Latvia – Riga, Daugavpils, Liepāja, Rēzekne, Jelgava, Jūrmala and Cēsis – will have the opportunity to give jabs against Covid-19 to every resident of Latvia who wants it. Vaccination will be carried out with the vaccines of the manufacturer AstraZeneca, and residents will be able to receive the vaccine when they arrive at large-scale vaccination centers in these cities.
Citizens who belong to a priority group already eligible will be invited to a special line for them, no additional evidence of belonging to a priority group will be required. The rest will be directed along the other line.
Vaccination in each of the cities will have a predetermined amount of vaccines. “At the moment the amount of vaccines has been used, the vaccination center will end its activity on a given day,” said VM. Therefore there is no guarantee that enough vaccine shots will be available if demand proves to be very high, as seems a distinct possibility.
