Fact of recovery from Covid abroad can be registered in Latvia

Take note – story published 2 years and 9 months ago

In the future, residents who have recovered from Covid-19 outside Latvia will be able to register the fact by submitting an application to the National Health Service (NVD), the Service said February 8. This fact will not ensure a Latvian Covid certificate.

The fact of infection can be registered in Latvia if:

  • the person has received at least one dose of vaccine recognized by the European Medicines Agency or the World Health Organisation against Covid-19 infection;
  • the fact of Covid-19 recovery abroad is confirmed by the result of a Covid-19 RNA test conducted by a foreign laboratory;
  • the person is entitled to receive vaccination against Covid-19 in Latvia.

The recovery fact will be taken into account when calculating the validity date of the primary vaccination certificate.

An application and the results of the laboratory test may be submitted to NVD in person (locations here) or remotely by post (address Cēsu iela 31/k3, Rīga, LV-1012)  or by electronic means at [email protected], signed with an electronic signature.

NVD said that the recovery fact will not ensure the creation of Covid certificate of recovery in Latvia. As in the past, the certificate of recovery will have to be obtained in the country where the illness has occurred. All certificates of recovery received in the Member States of the European Union, as well as certificates received in countries which have joined the single digital gateway of the European Union, shall be valid for use in Latvia.
