Fifteen Covid-19 deaths Monday in Latvia

On January 3, 2022, Latvia recorded 671 new Covid-19 cases, according to the latest figures from the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC). 

Of that total, 273 were unvaccinated persons, or persons not fully vaccinated, and 398 were fully vaccinated. The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 277,692.

Of 5,586 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 12% were positive. The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population climbed from 522 Sunday to 540.2 Monday.

Fifteen more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. All of the fatalities were aged over 60 years and four were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 4,594.

Monday data from the National Health Service show 561 patients being treated in hospital with 77 displaying serious symptoms.

In the other Baltic states, Estonia reported 232 new cases and 1 death while in Lithuania there were over 1,200 cases and 17 deaths.
