Four Covid deaths Sunday in Latvia

On March 20, 2022, Latvia recorded 1,907 new cases of Covid-19, according to the latest figures from the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

Of the newly-confirmed cases, 566 cases were recorded in unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated people, while 1,341 were fully vaccinated.

Out of 5,064 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 37.7% were positive. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 of the population declined from 3,781 Saturday to 3,670 Sunday. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 771,038 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.

Four Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. All of the victims were aged over 70 years. One was fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 5,496.

Sunday hospital data from the National Health Service show 950  patients being treated in hospitals (up on 922 Saturday). 74 patients were admitted and 27 were discharged during the previous 24 hours. 42 patients are displaying serious symptoms.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website
