Government grants €3.2 million to COVID-19 medical costs

On Tuesday, July 14, the Cabinet supported the allocation of €3.2 million to the health sector in order to cover the costs of medical institutions for the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 that has been carried out so far, the Ministry of Health said.

In the spring of this year, a number of measures were introduced in the health sector to ensure the epidemiological safety of the population and to provide care for patients infected with COVID-19. Treatment and diagnosis of COVID-19 patients and patients suspected of being infected with this disease was to be compensated by State budget resources.

Of the additional €3.2 million allocated:

  • €2.4 million will be directed to cover the costs of organizing and carrying out laboratory tests;
  • €667 thousand will be devoted to the payment of ambulatory services;
  • €143 thousand will be directed to the payment of hospitalization services.
