It was previously reported by LSM that vaccine logistics manager Oribalt had not delivered vaccine supplies on time and could not explain the issue or display a clear plan. Therefore, the Ministry of Health decided to terminate the contract with the supplier.
Oribalt, which took on the duty on March 8 this year, received 21,600 vaccines from manufacturers that evening. According to the contract, vaccines had to be delivered to at least 100 vaccination offices in Riga and Pierīga within eight hours, as well as 50 vaccination offices in the eastern region and 50 offices in the western region.
Information received by noon Thursday showed that on March 9, vaccines were delivered to one vaccination office, on March 10 to 37.
Oribalt planned to deliver all the vaccinations remaining in the warehouse only on Friday, while the National Health Service is continuing talks with the company and other drug logistics companies to ensure that the vaccines are run out on Thursday.
Oribalt has been sent an official request for clarification on the performance of the contract, but in the light of the current lack of communication, NVD does not see the possibility of continuing cooperation, Kasparāns acknowledged. The termination of the contract is still being reviewed by lawyers.
The storage service contract was concluded at EUR 60 800 without value added tax, with a contract of EUR 300 000 excluding VAT for the delivery of vaccines in each of the 3 regions, with both contracts in force until 30 September 2022.
