The minister said that in the near future, the European Medicines Agency will consider approval of this vaccine in the European Union (EU).
“This week, very good news from the European Medicines Agency is to be expected. It is likely that the manufacturer's Moderna vaccine will be registered, which will be available in Latvia as of January 11,” the minister said, noting that the manufacturer has already received schedules for supplying the vaccine.
Meanwhile, the registration and availability of a vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford in the EU is a matter of a couple of weeks, the minister said.
Currently, Latvia has received two batches of vaccines from Pfizer/BioNTech.
