Take note – story published 3 years ago

This week, an average of 2,000 people a day are scheduled to be vaccinated against Covid-19, Health Minister Daniels Pavluts said at a remote press conference February 23.

The Minister said that last week the Ministry of Health's target to vaccinate an average of 1,000 people per day was met. Therefore, in order to increase the pace of vaccination in the country, a new target has been set for this week.

The pace of vaccination is expected to increase in the coming weeks.

Currently 1.8% of Latvia's adult population has been vaccinated. In order to achieve the 'herd' immunity, the vaccination plan aims at 70% of adults to be vaccinated.

At present, the average vaccination rate in Latvia is 881 vaccinations per day. With the current pace, 70% of adults would be vaccinated in 3 years, 9 months and 13 days.
