Latvia receives first international aid in Covid crisis

On October 30, Latvia received the first delivery of equipment requested from EU Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) to aid the healthcare system as the number of Covid-19 patients in hospitals hits record-high levels.

The delivery contained six lung ventilators from Finland which were transported to Pauls Stradiņš hospital. 

 

 

Health Ministry, Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs, and Stradiņš hospital thanked Finland for its help on Twitter.

 

 

On October 31, Latvia received more equipment - syringe perfusion pumps from Hungary.

As reported, on October 31, Latvia exceeded the critical number of 1,500 Covid-19 patients in hospitals.
