With Latvia's financial support in the Ukrainian city of Ivano-Frankivsk, a rehabilitation center for women who have suffered from sexual abuse will be opened next week, Latvian Television reported on November 24.

Parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gunda Reire, met with Ukraine's first lady, Olena Zelenska, on Wednesday, November 23, during a meeting of high-level European women's leaders in Kyiv.

"Unfortunately, violence against women and girls is still being used as a weapon in war, as a weapon of war, and as an instrument of political oppression.

"Therefore, I was honored to confirm that a female rehabilitation center will be opened next week in western Ukraine, Ivano-Frankivsk, resulting from a very important co-financing of Latvia. At the center, women who have suffered and were victims of sexual abuse as a result of Russian aggression will be able to find shelter. Will be able to get legal help, rehab," Reire said.
