Of that total, 4,399 cases were recorded in unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated people, while 6,745 were fully vaccinated.
Out of 25,110 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 44.4% were positive. After a small fall from Sunday to Monday, the 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 of the population returned to an upward trajectory and reached a new record, rising from 6,035 Monday to 6,301 Tuesday.

Since the beginning of the pandemic 464,895 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.
Unfortunately, nine more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. All of the victims were aged over 50 years. Four of the dead were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 4,969.
The number of patients being treated in hospital remains around the 1,000 mark. Tuesday data from the National Health Service show 1,051 patients being treated in hospital (down from 1,056 Monday), of whom 580 have the primary diagnosis Covid-19. 150 patients were admitted and 105 discharged during the last 24 hours. 75 patients are displaying serious symptoms.

Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme. All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website covidpass.lv.
