Anyone returning from overseas who developes mild symptoms of suspected COVID-19 for at least two days should call 8303 .
The hotline will be open every day from 09:00 until 18:00. Operators on the line will register the call and assess whether the patient should go to the nearest analysis point tent or arrange for a medical team to visit patients at home to conduct a test.
The previous number used to inform about suspected cases - 113 - should in future only be used for urgent medical emergency cases.
The new 8303 has been introduced as the NMPD is now receiving almost 4,000 calls a day instead of the usual 1,200 calls. This overloads the service, explained NMPD director Liene Cipule.
