No Covid deaths over Midsummer holidays in Latvia

Midsummer was well worthy of celebration this year, with no deaths from Covid-19 recorded over the holiday period according to the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC) June 27.

Over the five day period 827 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed.

Of 6,027 tests carried out, 13.7% were positive. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 population remained stable, barely moving from 161 last Wednesday to 160 Monday.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 833,711 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.

The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic remains at 5,855.

Monday hospital data from the National Health Service (NVD) show 120 patients being treated in hospitals, 6 of whom are displaying serious symptoms.

A hotline – 8989 – allows people to both register for vaccination and receive answers to questions about the process of vaccination will continue to operate. The number for medical emergencies is 113.
